Look for the next fly in to be October 25, 2008

Come join us at our next fly-in for a fun filled day of airplanes, conversation, and food. Check back for possible date changes.

Once a year on the last Saturday in October, Glynn Starley (SAS Inc.) and Pete Counsell (Tailwheel Holding Company - owner & operator of Bob White Field) sponsor a fly-in at Bob White Field. The fly-in is open to all and you can arrive by airplane, helicopter, ultralight, car, truck, motorcycle, train, or just plain use your feet. Free hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, baked beans, desserts, & sodas are provided to all comers. This event is not normally advertised and awareness is usually spread by word of mouth. We get quite a few antique, vintage, & classic aircraft and even a few warbirds.

Plan on arriving by 11 AM. Visiting aircraft parking is on the south side of the field on the south taxiway and in the south run up area. There are no landing fees for attending the fly-in, for visiting SAS, or conducting other business at Bob White Field. We look forward to seeing you there.

I wasn't able to attend last year's fly-in (I do not remember why) and my father (Richard Long) was recovering from surgery. The net result was no pictures from last year. This year is a different story! Our whole family was together this year so there are pictures from both myself and my sister. We hope you enjoy!

Weather was a big concern this year for the fly-in. The weather had been generally fairly crappy with overcasts and threatening rain. The operative word here is threatening. The actual day of the fly-in wasn't much different but it did not stop us from having a successful day. A number of people flew in and flight activity was fairly active during the day.

Getting Ready!

You can see how the skies looked during this fly in.

This 182 didn't come for the fly in but it still looks good!

Nothing like sitting under your own wing and enjoying!

It appears that they will let anyone cook who is willing!

Desserts are a high priority at this table.

The volunteers are what make these fly ins a success. How would you get food without helpers like these?

Getting ready for some after lunch airplane rides.
